Let me just say that I can not bring myself to collect physical playing cards anymore.
I love opening packs but as soon as I see the pile on my table of random cards, I immediately regret it. Where am I supposed to put all this? A box so I’ll forget I have them? A binder so I’ll forget I have them? Put them into decks so I’ll forget I have them?
So, Pokémon online trading card game has been a thing for a long time now. But the only way I could really get packs in the game was to buy packs in real life and type in the code to the Pokémon Mother to open a digital pack. Or hound Pokémon pack openers on YouTube and hope they felt generous enough to show a code or two to the camera. That sucks, here I am with a freaking pile of cards I don’t have anything to really do with; or disappointed when entering in the egregiously long code only to find out its been used already.
Pokémon Pocket though, does not include any real life physical media. Which is very good for my ferret brain collecting these shiny pixels without finding a stray Pikachu card that somehow escaped under my bed frame.
Usually, I am into physical media. But trading cards is the exception. It only takes a few packs to have a LOT of cards that can easily be damaged and I can’t handle that kind of stress. As someone who has participated (and dated people who did also) in Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, and the Digimon trading card game.
Yes, Digimon has a current trading card game and you should look into it unless you are like my color blind friend that can’t play because besides the colors of the cards being different there isn’t any indicator logo that says what freaking color the card is. It is ran by Bandai Namco so.. needless to say they don’t care about accessibility.
Anyways, I can’t wait for them to enable Trading because I’ve been struggling to get a Gardevoir and its the last psychic Pokémon I need.
